Joan Barbarà, Barcelona, 1927-2013. Barcelona, 1927. Master and engraving artist, apart from painter and draftsman, he creates his first atelier at 23. When he turns 30, in Paris, he creates with Lluís Bracons L’Átelier de Recherches Plàstiques et Téchniques Calcographiques , where he begins a great friendship and cooperation with Dalí and Miró, working in the calcographic ateliers in this city. IN 1966, in Barcelona, he directs the ateliers in Ediciones La Cometa, where artists like Picasso, Hartung, Fontana, Tàpies and Chillida engrave. Together with this task of cooperation with other artists´editions, he shows his work in galleries and museums. He exhibits Suite Bodegones in the Maeght gallery, with catalogue and schedule across Europe. Serie Negre sobre Negre, catalogue Fundación Miró and schedule. Bibliophile and suite of engravings and drawings of big dimensions; Empúries, inici d’un retorn, scheduled across the Mediterranean, with catalogue and facsimile of the book. Méditérrani, obra gràfica. Museu de les Drassanes. Bibliophile book de Paris-Olot; Premio Fundación Olot. Member of the Reial Academia de Sant Jordi, he receives awards and homages in several countries.
